This single Brindley pendant takes the same hand spun solid brass shape as the rest of the range, but here it is finished in Slate, a smooth, painted mid grey that gives it a cooler, more contemporary look than the brand's natural brass and copper tones. Unlit, it reads as a simple grey dome. Lit, the polished brass interior throws a warm golden glow down and around the shade, so the two metals and colours work together rather than competing.

Smooth Brass Under a Slate Finish

The dome is spun from a single sheet of solid brass, then finished in a smooth, painted Slate coat on the outside for a flat, contemporary grey that resists the fingerprints and tarnishing bare brass can show over time. Inside the shade, the brass is left natural and polished to a bright, reflective shine that amplifies the light once a bulb is fitted.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged and brass and copper still hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. This Brindley in Slate carries that same hand finished brass shade, simply painted in a different colour before it leaves the workshop.

• Wipe the Slate exterior with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners, which can wear through the painted finish. The brass interior can be left to develop its own soft patina or polished if a brighter shine is preferred.

Is the Slate finish painted or a natural metal colour?
It's a smooth painted finish applied over the solid brass shade, giving a flat mid grey exterior rather than a natural metal tone. The interior is left as bare, polished brass.

Is this pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E27 base. A non dimmable bulb will not allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch.

Can several of these be hung together?
Yes. Because the drop height can be adjusted using the 1.5m cable, more than one Brindley pendant in Slate can be grouped above a kitchen island or a long dining table at matching or staggered heights.
