The shade's outer surface is finished in Slate, a flat, mid grey tone that sits somewhere between charcoal and stone. Inside, the shade is plated in nickel and hand hammered, so the surface catches and scatters light in small dimples rather than throwing it out in one direct beam.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The Hockley pendant's Slate shade and hammered nickel interior are shaped and finished there by hand, one part of that same lighting range built on the original ironmongery.
