Underneath the colour, this pendant is solid brass, plated in nickel for durability and shine. The outer face of the cone is coated in matte Dusk paint, while the inner face is left in hammered nickel, its dimpled texture catching and scattering light rather than throwing a single hard beam. The contrast between the flat outer colour and the textured, reflective inner surface is what gives the Hockley its character up close.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged and brass and copper still hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and lighting like the Hockley is made at the same Welsh workshop. That heritage of hand finishing is visible in the way each Dusk shade is painted and each nickel interior hammered by hand, so no two pendants are quite identical.
