From The Anvil Hammered Nickel Hockley Pendant - Bluff (Warm Grey)

The Hockley pendant takes the classic factory cone shade and scales it up into something with real presence. Cast from solid brass, its wide, sharply angled shade makes it as much a piece of sculpture as it is a light source.

This version is plated in nickel and finished on the outside in Bluff, a warm, taupe toned grey with a soft matte surface. Turn it over and the inside tells a different story. The nickel there is left hand hammered and reflective, so its dimpled texture catches the light and bounces it back down into the room.

Where It Works Best

At 510mm across, the Hockley has enough scale to work as a single statement fitting over a kitchen island or dining table, or hung on its own in a wide hallway. Group two or three together at slightly different heights along an island or a long table and the effect multiplies, each shade throwing its own pool of hammered light. It suits living rooms too, anywhere that calls for one confident, sculptural fitting rather than several smaller ones.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells in Powys and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and the Hockley's spun brass shade and hand finished nickel interior are a direct result of that same hands on approach.

Questions People Ask

What bulb does the Hockley pendant need? It takes a single E27 LED bulb rated at 6W maximum. The bulb is not included, so you will need to buy one separately.

Can I dim this light? Yes. Fit a dimmable LED bulb and the Hockley pendant will dim smoothly, but it will not dim properly with a standard, non dimmable LED.

Is the ceiling rose included? Yes. Every Hockley pendant comes with a matching ceiling rose, 1.5m of black fabric cable and all the fixings needed to install it.

How does the Bluff grey finish differ from the inside of the shade? The outside of the shade is coated in a matte Bluff grey, while the inside is left in a hand hammered nickel finish that reflects light back into the room once the bulb is lit.
