The Hockley pendant is a single dome shaped ceiling light, hand spun from solid brass at From The Anvil's own workshop. Its surface is left in a hammered texture and plated in nickel, giving it a cool, reflective finish that reads as a strong sculptural shape rather than a plain shade. Once lit, the hammered surface breaks the light into a soft, dappled glow.

Every Hockley shade starts as a sheet of solid brass, spun into its rounded cone shape, then hand hammered before it is plated in nickel. The hammering stays visible under the plating, so the surface catches light unevenly rather than reflecting it as one flat sheen. It is a cooler, more industrial finish than From The Anvil's brass options, suited to a scheme already working with chrome or nickel tones.

Where It Works Best

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. The Hockley pendant's hammered texture and nickel plating are applied at that same Welsh workshop, each shade spun and finished by hand rather than pressed by machine.

Questions People Ask

Is the Hockley pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it is fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb will not allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch.

Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E27 fitting, bought separately.

Can the Hockley pendant be hung in a group?
Yes. Its scale works well as a single fitting, but it also suits being grouped in a cluster of two or three for a bolder look.
