An Adjustable Light With a Warm, Hand Finished Glow

The Brindley wall light is built to be pointed exactly where you want it. A hand spun brass shade sits on a jointed arm that swivels at both the wall plate and the shade itself, so the beam can be angled up, down or to the side to suit a bed, a chair or a stretch of hallway.

The Teasel Finish

This Brindley is finished in Teasel, a soft, parchment toned off white that reads warm rather than stark against a wall. The shade is spun from solid brass, then plated in nickel before the Teasel coating is applied over the top, so the paint sits on a metal base rather than a shell. Inside, the nickel plating is left hammered rather than smooth, and that texture is what gives the light its character once switched on, breaking a single hard beam into a soft, dappled wash across the wall or ceiling above.

How It Works

• Adjustable knuckle joints at the wall plate and where the arm meets the shade, so the direction and angle of the light can be set and changed.
• Shade measures 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, with a 224mm projection from the wall. The circular wall rose is 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep.
• Takes one 6W maximum LED bulb with an E14 fitting. Bulb not supplied.
• Dimmable when fitted with a dimmable LED bulb.
• Supplied with the wall plate and fixings needed to mount it.

Where It Works Best

Because the head can be angled, this Brindley works well wherever a light needs to be aimed rather than left to flood a room, on either side of a bed, along a hallway or staircase, or above a kitchen worktop. Its neutral off white tone also makes it an easy fit for a living room or dining room, and it pairs with the matching Brindley pendant for a coordinated scheme across a room.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. This Brindley wall light's hammered nickel interior and hand applied Teasel finish are both a product of that same hands on process.

• Wipe the Teasel finish with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive or chemical cleaners, which can wear through the paintwork and dull the hammered nickel underneath.

Can this wall light be angled after it's fitted?
Yes. It has an adjustable joint at the wall plate and another where the arm meets the shade, so the direction can be changed at any time.

What bulb does it take?
One LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E14 fitting. Bulbs are not included.

Is this light dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A standard, non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even if one is fitted.

Why is this light non returnable?
It's made to order at From The Anvil's Welsh workshop rather than kept as ready made stock, so orders can't be returned once placed.
