From The Anvil Hammered Nickel Brindley Wall Light - Dusk (Dark Blue/Grey)

The Brindley wall light pairs a traditional dome shade with a fully adjustable knuckle jointed arm, so you get old workshop styling with a light you can actually aim. In this Dusk colourway the outside of the shade is a deep, almost midnight blue grey, while the inside stays a bright hammered nickel that scatters the light into a soft, dappled pool rather than a single hard beam.

A Hammered Nickel Interior, Finished in Dusk

The shade is spun from solid brass, then nickel plated before the outside is finished in Dusk, a dark blue grey that reads almost black in low light and takes on a cooler blue cast in daylight. Because the plating goes on before the colour coat, the hammered texture stays visible on the inside of the shade, catching and reflecting light from the bulb. The adjustable arm, wall rose and knuckle joints are left in polished nickel, giving a crisp, cool contrast against the coloured shade.

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting joined the range later, still produced at the same Welsh workshop, hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Brindley wall light carries that same hand finishing, with each shade individually plated and coated rather than machine stamped.

• Wipe the shade with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can wear through the Dusk finish and expose the plated brass underneath.

Can I adjust the direction the light points in? Yes. The arm has two knuckle joints, each secured with a wing nut, so you can tilt and turn the shade and then lock it in place.

What bulb does it need, and is it dimmable? It takes a single E14 bulb of up to 6W LED, which is not included. It is dimmable as long as you fit a dimmable bulb and use a compatible dimmer switch.

Which rooms is the Brindley wall light suited to? It works well in bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms, anywhere a directional light is useful.

Can I return it if I change my mind once it arrives? No. Like all From The Anvil fittings, it is handmade to order in Wales and cannot be returned once ordered.
