The Brindley pendant has a classic factory dome shape, but this version brings something different to it. A deep, soot dark grey exterior is paired with a hammered nickel interior that catches and throws back every bit of light. Hang it low over a kitchen island or dining table and the contrast between the matte outer shell and the bright, textured inner surface becomes the real feature of the room.

The Soot Finish

This Brindley is spun from solid brass, then plated in nickel before the outside is finished in Soot, a deep charcoal grey with a soft, matte texture. Inside the dome, the nickel is left exposed and hammered by hand, so light from the bulb hits a rippled, faceted surface and scatters outward rather than shining flat. The two finishes side by side give this pendant a quieter, more tonal look than the brighter metallic options in the same range.

Where It Works Best

This pendant suits kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms and hallways, anywhere a single dome of light needs to do a specific job such as lighting a run of worktop, marking out a dining table, or greeting you at the front door. Because the drop height is adjustable, it also works well grouped in twos or threes above a long kitchen island, spaced out to spread light evenly along the counter.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. This Brindley pendant carries that same hand finished approach, with its Soot exterior and hammered nickel interior both worked by hand rather than left plain from the mould.
