A Softer, Cooler Take on the Brindley Pendant

The Brindley pendant is one of From The Anvil's signature dome shaped lights, and this version brings something a little different to the family. Spun from solid brass and plated in nickel, it is finished in Slate, a cool mid grey that sits somewhere between industrial and contemporary. Beneath the dome, a bright hammered nickel interior throws light back down in a soft, dappled pattern.

Slate Finish, Hammered Nickel Interior

The outer dome has a smooth, matte Slate coating, giving it a flat, chalky mid grey tone rather than a shiny one. Turn it over and the story changes completely. The inside is left in bright hammered nickel, its surface catching and scattering light once a bulb is switched on. That contrast between the muted grey outside and the polished, textured inside is what gives this pendant its character.

Where It Works Best

Its neutral grey tone makes it easy to place. Hang it low over a kitchen island, or group two or three together along a breakfast bar, where the dappled light and the row of matching domes make a strong visual line. It also suits a dining room hung centrally over the table, and works well in a living room or hallway where a single pendant needs to hold its own.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop using the same hand forging and hot forging methods. The Brindley pendant, including this Slate and nickel version, is still made there today.
