This single Brindley pendant is hand spun from solid brass, then plated in nickel and finished in Bluff, a warm, taupe leaning grey that sits somewhere between stone and charcoal. Inside the dome is a hammered nickel lining, so once a bulb is fitted the light scatters unevenly across that textured surface rather than shining flat and even.

The exterior is coated in a soft, matte Bluff grey that reads as a neutral rather than a metallic, so it sits quietly against painted walls and cabinetry. Look up into the shade and the inside tells a different story, a hammered nickel surface, cool and reflective, with the kind of dimpled texture that only comes from being worked by hand rather than pressed flat.

Where It Works Best

Because the drop can be adjusted, this Brindley works just as well hung singly over a dining table as it does grouped in twos or threes above a kitchen island. From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, made at that same Welsh workshop.

This Bluff finished Brindley carries that same hand work through to its more contemporary grey colourway, spun, plated and hammered by hand at the workshop where the brand began.
