A Bold Shape With A Warm Secret
The Hockley pendant is one of From The Anvil's most striking shapes, a wide cone spun from solid copper that narrows to a neat point at the ceiling. Seen from below, the shade opens out to reveal a warm hammered copper interior, catching and throwing light back down into the room.
The Soot Finish
This version is finished in Soot, a deep charcoal grey that covers the outside of the shade in a flat, matte coat. It gives the pendant a quieter, more contemporary look than the natural copper options, while the inside is left as raw hammered copper, so the warmth of the metal still shows through once the light is on. That contrast between the dark exterior and the bright, textured interior is the whole point of this piece.
How It Works
- Solid copper shade, 510mm in diameter and 290mm high, with a hand hammered copper interior
- Supplied fully wired with a matching ceiling rose, 120mm in diameter, and all necessary fixings
- 1.5m of black fabric cable as standard
- Takes an LED E27 bulb, 6W maximum, bulb not included
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb
We recommend that this fitting is installed by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
Its scale suits rooms with a bit of height and space to let the shape breathe. Hang it low over a kitchen island or dining table where the hammered copper interior can do its work, use it as a single statement piece in a hallway, or group two or three together over a run of worktop or a long table for more drama. It also earns its place in a living room, as a striking central light or a softer secondary source in the evening.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells in Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop, and this Hockley pendant carries on that approach, spun from solid copper and finished in Soot at the place it was made.
