This Harborne is spun from solid copper, then finished on the outside in a deep matt Elan Black that gives the classic dome shape a graphic, modern edge. The inside is left in its natural copper tone and hand hammered, so the surface catches light in small dimples rather than one flat sheen. The two finishes meet at a crisp rim, which is where the contrast shows off best.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells in Powys and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and the Harborne's spun copper shade with its hand hammered interior is a direct example of that hot forging tradition still at work today.

• Is the inside of the shade real copper? Yes. The Harborne is spun from solid copper, and the interior is left in its natural copper finish with a hand hammered texture, while the outside is coated in matt Elan Black.
• What bulb do I need? It takes one E27 LED bulb rated at 6W maximum. The bulb is not included, so pick one separately.
