From The Anvil Hammered Copper Brindley Wall Light - Soot (Dark Grey)

The Brindley wall light has a directional head that swings and tilts on an exposed knuckle joint, so you can point the light exactly where you want it. This version is finished in Soot, a dark charcoal grey, with a hammered copper interior that catches the light whenever it's switched on.

A Soot Finish, Hammered Copper Interior

The outer shade wears a matte Soot coating, a deep grey with a soft, slightly chalky texture that sits quietly against most walls. Tip the shade and the story changes: the inside is solid copper, hammered by hand so the surface dimples and scatters light rather than throwing it in one hard beam. The knuckle joint and circular wall rose keep their copper tone too, so the whole fitting reads as dark grey on the outside with warm copper running through its moving parts.

Where It Works Best

Because the head swings and tilts, this light is better suited to directing light than filling a whole room evenly. It works well in a hallway or over a staircase, either side of a bed in a bedroom, or bringing a warm pool of light to a kitchen, dining room or living room. From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. That same hot forged copper is what lines the shade of this Brindley wall light.
