Heath is a matte, earthy green powder coating applied over the solid copper body, so the colour has real depth rather than sitting as a thin layer on top. Turn the shade over and the story changes completely: the inside is left as raw hammered copper, unlacquered, with the texture of individual hammer strikes still visible across the surface. From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting like this Brindley pendant is produced at the same Welsh workshop, still hand forged and hot forged from solid copper using the traditional methods the company was built on.
