A Softer Take on the Brindley Pendant

This Brindley pendant swaps sharp, industrial lines for a rounded, dome shaped shade spun from solid copper. In the Bluff finish, the outside takes on a soft, warm grey with a slightly taupe cast, so it reads as a neutral rather than an obvious metal. Switch it on and the hammered copper lining inside catches the light, giving off a warm, dappled glow that plays against the cool grey outside.

The Bluff Finish

Bluff is a matte, powder like grey with warm undertones, so it sits comfortably alongside both cool and warm colour schemes. The shade's exterior is smooth, while the interior keeps its hand hammered copper texture, with each dimple catching light slightly differently. Because the copper lining stays exposed, the glow it throws is warmer than the grey shade might suggest, so a cooler toned LED bulb helps balance the two.

Where It Works Best

This pendant works well in living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways. Hang it low over a dining table for a warm pool of light, or use two or three at slightly different drop heights above a kitchen island. Because it is sold as a single pendant, it is easy to space them out exactly how you want above a run of worktop or a long table.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Steel is still hand forged and brass and copper still hot forged using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, and lighting like this Brindley pendant is produced at the same Welsh workshop, with its copper shade spun and finished by hand.
