A Dome Pendant With a Softer, Chalky Finish

The Harborne pendant keeps its classic rounded dome shape, but this Flock version trades the usual bright metal exterior for a chalky matt white coating. Look up into the shade and the surface changes completely, revealing a hammered brass interior that throws a warm, dappled glow once the bulb is lit. It reads as soft and pared back from below, then shows a completely different texture and colour looking up into it.

The Flock Finish

Flock is a chalky, matt white paint finish applied over a solid brass shade. It sits flat and powdery to the touch, with none of the shine you would expect from bare metal. Underneath, the hammered texture on the interior is left in natural brass, so the two finishes play off each other, one muted and pale, the other warm and uneven with light.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined that range later, and this Harborne shade is hand hammered and hand painted at the same Welsh workshop rather than finished by machine.
