A Softer Take on a Classic Dome
The Harborne pendant keeps its familiar rounded dome shape, but this version swaps the usual bright finish for a deep, almost matte black exterior. It is a From The Anvil design that suits a period kitchen just as easily as a newer, more pared back room.
Hammered Brass in Elan Black
This Harborne is cast in solid brass, then hand finished in Elan Black on the outside of the dome. The inside is left in raw, hammered brass, so the texture of the hammering catches the light whenever the bulb is switched on. From the outside it reads as a clean, contemporary black light. From below, it glows gold.
How It Works
- Supplied fully wired with a matching ceiling rose and all necessary fixings.
- 1.5m of black fabric cable included as standard, with a ceiling rose measuring 120mm across.
- Takes one LED E27 bulb, 6W maximum. The bulb is not included.
- Dimmable when fitted with a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
Where It Works Best
The rounded shape and dark finish suit a single drop over a dining table or a run of two or three above a kitchen island. It also works well in a hallway or living room where you want a warm pool of light without a bright metal finish on show.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, in Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later on, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The Harborne's hammered brass shade, hand finished in Elan Black, is a direct result of that hot forging process, one more piece shaped by hand rather than pressed out by machine.
