From The Anvil Hammered Brass Brindley Wall Light - Soot (Dark Grey)

This Brindley wall light throws its beam exactly where you point it. The shade sits on a jointed brass arm with two knurled wing nuts, so you can angle the head and swivel the whole fitting until the light lands where you actually need it, over a headboard, along a hallway, or onto a favourite piece of art.

Hammered Brass in Soot

The shade is hand hammered brass, then finished in soot, a deep charcoal grey that reads as almost black in most rooms. The hammering leaves a texture of small, irregular dents across the metal, so no two shades catch the light in quite the same way. Inside, the brass is left bare and polished, and when the bulb is on it throws a warm golden glow up into the shade before it spills out below. The arm, wing nuts and wall rose are all finished in solid polished brass, giving the dark shade a bright, jewellery like contrast where the metal is exposed.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Brindley shade carries that same hand hammered finish through into the lighting range, made at the same Welsh workshop.

• Wipe the shade with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can mark the soot finish and dull the polished brass.

• Can I change the direction the light points in? Yes. The shade and arm both pivot on brass wing nut joints, so you can angle the head and rotate the arm to send light exactly where you want it.
• What bulb does the Brindley wall light in Soot take? It takes a single 6W max LED bulb with an E14 fitting. The bulb is not included.
• Is this wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable LED bulb. Standard, non dimmable bulbs will not dim on a dimmer switch.
• Does the inside of the shade match the soot exterior? No. The soot finish is on the outside only. The inside of the shade is left in bare, polished brass, which reflects a warm light once the bulb is switched on.
