From The Anvil Hammered Brass Brindley Wall Light - Bluff (Warm Grey)

The Brindley wall light is built around two brass knuckle joints, one at the wall plate and one at the shade, so the whole head can be tilted and turned to send light exactly where you want it. This one is finished in Bluff, a warm, chalky grey that sits over hand hammered brass, letting the hammered texture show through the paint rather than hiding under a flat coat.

The Bluff Finish

Bluff reads closer to taupe than a true cold grey, which lets it sit comfortably alongside timber, stone or other metal fittings in a room. It is applied over the hammered brass shade, so up close you can both see and feel the dimpled surface beneath the colour. Inside, the shade is left in polished, uncoated brass, which catches the light and throws it back out as a warm, dappled wash rather than one hard beam.

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when former metalwork teacher and joiner Mark Underhill bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and the hammered texture on this Brindley shade is a direct result of that hands on approach to metalwork.
