A Wall Light You Can Point Exactly Where You Need It
The Brindley wall light casts a single directional beam from an arm that swings and tilts on brass knuckle joints, so instead of one fixed pool of light, you get one you can aim over a book, along a landing or straight onto a dressing table. This Birch colourway keeps that same adjustable shape but gives it a much softer, quieter finish than the natural brass versions.
The Birch Finish
Birch is a smooth, pale grey coating applied over a hammered brass shade, so the outside reads calm and contemporary against a painted wall while the material underneath keeps its handmade weight. The hammering is left exposed inside the shade rather than smoothed away, and once a bulb is fitted, that uneven surface throws a warm, dappled wash of light rather than one flat beam.
How It Works
- Wall mounted fitting with a solid brass arm on two knuckle joints, so the shade can be swung and tilted after installation.
- Takes one LED bulb rated up to 6W with an E14 fitting, bulb not included.
- Dimmable if dimmable bulbs are used.
- Shade measures 139mm in diameter and 124mm high, with a projection of 224mm from the wall.
- Circular wall rose measures 105mm in diameter and 20mm deep.
Where It Works Best
Because the arm moves, this Brindley works well either side of a bed as a reading light, or in a hallway where an angled beam helps on a landing or staircase. It also suits a dining room, living room or kitchen wherever a single adjustable light is wanted rather than an overhead fixture, and pairs naturally with the matching Brindley pendant for a coordinated scheme.
From The Anvil
From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering, with lighting added to the range later and produced at the same Welsh workshop. This Birch finish is painted over that same hammered brass shade, by hand, at the workshop where the brand still makes every fitting.

- Wipe the painted Birch exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can wear through the coating and mark the hammered brass interior underneath.

It's a painted finish. Birch is a pale grey coating applied over a solid hammered brass shade, so the grey you see is a coating rather than the brass colour underneath.
Can I still see brass on this fitting?
Yes. The inside of the shade is left in its natural hammered brass, so the brass tone and texture show once the bulb is on, along with the exposed brass knuckle joints on the arm.
