From The Anvil Hammered Brass Brindley Pendant - Soot (Dark Grey)

The Brindley pendant has a simple dome shape with a twist hidden inside. From outside it is finished in a deep, almost charcoal Soot grey, but tip it towards you and the inside reveals a warm, hand hammered brass surface that catches and scatters the light. It is a small detail that makes a big difference once the bulb is switched on.

Hammered Brass Beneath a Soot Finish

This particular Brindley is cast in hammered brass, then coated in a matte Soot grey on the outside of the shade. The hammering is done by hand, so the small dimples and facets vary slightly from pendant to pendant. Left uncoated on the inside, the brass keeps its natural shine and throws a warm, dappled glow downward whenever the light is on.

Where It Works Best

The Brindley's clean dome shape and warm brass glow suit living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways. Because the drop height can be adjusted, it works equally well hung low and singly over a dining table, or grouped in twos or threes at staggered heights above a kitchen island.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The hand hammered brass interior of this Brindley pendant is a direct example of that hot forging tradition still at work today.

• Does this pendant come with a bulb? No. It takes an LED bulb only, 6W maximum, in an E27 fitting, which is purchased separately.
