A Softly Lit Dome With a Golden Secret

The Brindley pendant takes a simple dome shape and adds a twist. The outside is finished in a cool slate grey, but look up underneath and you find the shade lined in hammered brass. Switch it on and that brass interior throws back a warm, dappled light rather than a flat glare, so the fitting reads as understated from across the room and richly detailed from below.

Hammered Brass Meets Slate

This Brindley is made from hammered brass, hand finished on the outside in Slate, a mid grey that sits comfortably with both warm and cool schemes. The hammering is left exposed on the inside of the shade, so every dent and dimple catches the light differently once a bulb is fitted. Each piece is hand finished, so expect small variations in texture from one pendant to the next. That is a sign of hand forming, not a fault.

Where It Works Best

Because the drop height is adjustable, the Brindley is easy to hang low over a kitchen island or dining table, where the hammered brass interior throws light down onto the surface below. Group two or three together above an island for a run of light, or use just one over a table, in a hallway, or in a living room where a single characterful pendant suits better than a row of downlights.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil began in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and started hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting came later, made at the same Welsh workshop, and this Brindley pendant carries that hand finishing through in its hammered brass shade.

• Can I hang more than one Brindley pendant together? Yes. The adjustable cable makes it easy to hang two or three at different or matching drop heights, which works well grouped above a kitchen island.
• What bulb does this pendant need? It takes an E27 bulb rated at 6W LED maximum. The bulb is not included, so you will need to buy one separately.
• Can I dim this light? Yes, as long as you fit a compatible dimmable LED bulb.
• Can I return this pendant if I change my mind? No. Every From The Anvil light is handmade to order in Wales, so it cannot be returned once ordered.
