The Bluff Finish, Explained

This Brindley is made from solid hammered brass, then finished by hand in Bluff, a matte, taupe toned grey that sits over the metal like a soft coat of paint. The exterior stays smooth and neutral, while the inside of the shade keeps its hammered brass texture in full view. Once a bulb is fitted, that hammered brass throws a warm, dappled light down and across the shade's grey rim.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil started in 1996, when former metalwork teacher and joiner Mark Underhill bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware that still hand forges steel and hot forges brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. This Brindley in Bluff is shaped and finished at that same Welsh workshop, with the grey coating and the hammered brass beneath it both done by hand.

Is the Bluff finish painted or a natural metal colour?
It's a matte grey finish applied over the solid brass shade, so the grey you see on the outside is a coating rather than the natural brass colour underneath.

Can I still see the brass on this pendant?
Yes. The inside of the shade is left in its natural hammered brass, so the brass tone and texture show once the light is on, even though the outside is grey.

Is the Brindley pendant dimmable?
Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable LED bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't allow the light to be dimmed even with a compatible dimmer switch.

Does it come with a bulb?
No, bulbs are sold separately. The fitting takes one LED bulb with an E27 base, rated at 6W maximum.
