Hammered Brass in a Dusk Finish

Each shade is hand hammered from solid brass, so the surface carries small dents and texture from the finishing process rather than a flat, machine smooth face. The Dusk colour sits over that hammered brass in a dark blue grey, while the rim and interior of each shade are left in bright, untreated brass, so the hammered texture catches the light and glows warm brass at the opening once the bulb is on.

Where It Works Best

Each shade measures 260mm across and the fitting needs a minimum height of 1500mm to hang properly, so it suits a room with reasonable ceiling height to let the staggered shades spread out. It works well above a dining table, a kitchen island, or grouped in a hallway or stairwell, and can also make a statement piece over a bed in a larger bedroom or as a feature in a living room.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The hammered texture on this Brindley cluster is one of those hand finishing steps, worked into each brass shade by hand rather than pressed by machine.

It reads mostly as a deep, dark blue grey, sitting over the hammered brass rather than replacing it, so the metal shows through at the rim and inside each shade.

Yes. Only the outer surface of each shade is finished in Dusk. The rim and interior are left in bright, untreated hammered brass, which is what gives the warm glow once the bulb is lit.
