The Bluff Finish

This particular finish is called Bluff, a warm, taupe toned grey that sits over the shade's hammered brass base. The grey coats the outside in a soft matte layer, while the inside of each shade is left in bare hammered brass, so the metal's dimpled texture is exposed and catches the light once the pendant is switched on. Look closely and every dome shows the hand hammered marks left by the maker, no two are perfectly identical.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996 when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business later relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting became part of the range later, produced at the same Welsh workshop. The hammered brass inside each Brindley shade is a direct result of that hand forging tradition, worked by hand rather than pressed by machine.
