The Harborne pendant keeps a simple, classic dome shape, hand spun from solid brass and finished by hand in a burnished treatment that pulls natural colour and texture out of the metal itself. The Burnished Finish

Burnishing works directly into the surface of the brass, drawing out streaks of amber, bronze and deep purple brown that shift as the light catches them from different angles. The inside of the shade is left with a fine hammered texture, which breaks up the light rather than throwing it in a single flat beam. Because every shade goes through the burnishing process by hand, the exact pattern of colour on yours will be its own, and slight variation from one pendant to the next is part of the finish rather than a fault.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil was founded in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own range of hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working with his wife Bernadette. The From The Anvil brand launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products. The business relocated to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and grew into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware, still hand forging steel and hot forging brass and copper using traditional methods alongside modern engineering. Lighting joined the range later, made at the same Welsh workshop. The Harborne pendant's burnished shade is one of those pieces, hand finished there rather than coated by machine.
