A Pendant With Character

The Brindley pendant is a single dome shaped ceiling light, hand spun from brass at From The Anvil's own workshop. In this burnished finish, the surface is heat treated until deep bronze, amber and violet tones bloom across the metal. No two shades come out quite the same, so the one that reaches you carries its own pattern of colour.

The Burnished Finish

Burnishing is a hand process, not a printed effect. The brass is heated and worked until oxidation moves across the surface, leaving smoky patches next to flashes of gold and copper light. The inside of the shade keeps a plainer brass tone, so the burnished exterior stays the visual focus once the pendant is lit.

Where It Works Best

The shape suits a range of drop heights, so it works well hung low and solo over a dining table, in a hallway, or grouped in twos or threes above a kitchen island or breakfast bar. It also sits comfortably in a living room, wherever a single warm pool of light is wanted.

From The Anvil

From The Anvil started in 1996, when Mark Underhill, a former metalwork teacher and joiner, bought a small ironmongery supplier called MF Supplies and began hand forging his own hardware from a workshop in Mid Wales, working alongside his wife Bernadette. The brand itself launched in 2000 with around fifty handmade products, and the business went on to relocate to Llandrindod Wells, Powys, growing into a family run manufacturer of ironmongery, lighting and homeware. Lighting joined the range later, still produced at the same Welsh workshop using traditional hand forging and hot forging alongside modern engineering. The Brindley pendant's burnished shade is a direct result of that hands on approach, with each shade heat treated individually rather than finished by machine.
