The Urban Renewal single pendant is the collection's core design: a single wire cage hanging from a drop, styled on the working lamps once found in early twentieth century factories and workshops. The cage that used to guard the bulb from knocks now does the opposite job, putting it proudly on show.

Astral Bronze finish

In Astral Bronze, the cage and fittings carry a dark, slightly weathered finish that suits the fitting's industrial character, whether it's used on its own or repeated in a row. It works well over a kitchen island or bar, or anywhere with an exposed brick, reclaimed wood or otherwise pared back feel.

How it works

This fitting uses an Edison style lamp, which isn't supplied, so you'll need to add one that suits the open cage design. As with any hanging fitting, we'd recommend a qualified electrician handles the wiring in.

Where it works best

This single pendant works well on its own over a small table, or repeated in a row along an island or bar counter, and suits restaurants, bars and kitchens looking for a heavier, more industrial style. It's an indoor fitting throughout, so it belongs in covered spaces rather than anywhere exposed to the weather.

The story behind Feiss

Murray Feiss started out in 1955 with a small lighting business in the South Bronx, wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases and having his mother Rose hand sew the shades that finished them. Over three generations, the family run company grew into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its work spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and today that design heritage sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, converting the collections for 220 to 240V wiring. Urban Renewal is styled on the working lamps once found in early twentieth century factories and workshops, its wire cage no longer needed to guard the bulb from knocks but kept on as a decorative flourish.
