The Urban Renewal large 3 light pendant takes its cue from the functional, no frills lamps used in factories and workshops in the early 1900s. The wire cage that once protected the bulb from knocks is now a purely decorative feature, giving the fitting its vintage, working lamp character across three separate drops.

Astral Bronze finish

In Astral Bronze, the cages and fittings have a dark, slightly weathered tone that leans into the industrial roots of the design. It suits a kitchen island or breakfast bar with exposed brick, reclaimed wood or dark cabinetry, and works equally well in a bar or restaurant setting looking for the same heavy duty character.

How it works

This fitting uses Edison style lamps, which aren't supplied, so you'll want to choose three that suit the open cage design and sit visibly inside it. As with any multi drop pendant, we'd recommend a qualified electrician handles the wiring in.

Where it works best

This is an island light first and foremost, hung over a run of worktop or a breakfast bar, though it works equally well in restaurants, bars and kitchens looking for a heavier, more industrial fitting. It's an indoor design throughout, so it belongs in covered spaces rather than anywhere exposed to the weather.

The story behind Feiss

Urban Renewal takes its whole character from the functional, no frills lamps once used in early twentieth century factories and workshops, the wire cage that used to guard the bulb now kept purely as decoration, gathered here across three separate drops. Feiss itself was founded in 1955, when Murray Feiss set up a small lighting business in the South Bronx around imported European porcelain figurines wired into lamp bases, his mother Rose hand sewing the shades. Three generations of family ownership grew that venture into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, its design heritage now sitting within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting the ranges to 220 to 240V current.
