A flush fitting take on the Shepherd lantern

The Shepherd 2 light flush fitting takes the same traditional Parisian lantern styling as the rest of the collection, with the decorative shepherd's crook, latched and hinged front door panel, and inner Case White glass with Clear Seeded outer glass, but mounts flush against the wall or ceiling rather than projecting outward like the wall lanterns. It's a practical option where a projecting fitting isn't suitable.

Dark Weathered Zinc finish and composite build

Finished in Dark Weathered Zinc, it has the same aged, muted metal look as the rest of the Shepherd range, so it can be mixed with other sizes from the collection without looking mismatched. It's made from a weather resistant composite material, chosen for durability outdoors.

How it works

The hinged front panel opens on its latch to reach the two bulbs, neither of which is included, so you'll need to add both to your order. As with all outdoor fittings, we'd recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and makes sure the mounting and cable entry are properly weathersealed.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, it's suited to covered outdoor spots such as porches, canopied entrances and outbuildings, rather than fully exposed positions in direct, driving rain. Its flush profile makes it a good choice for a low ceiling, a porch soffit or anywhere a projecting lantern would be impractical or a trip hazard.

The story behind Feiss

Imported European porcelain figurines, wired into lamp bases and finished with shades his mother Rose sewed by hand, were the foundation Murray Feiss built his lighting business on in the South Bronx in 1955. Three generations of family ownership later, that modest start had become one of America's best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and the design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, converting the wiring for 220 to 240V systems. Shepherd's flush mounted form keeps the same Parisian gas lantern styling as the rest of the range, adapted here into a weather resistant fitting that sits close against the wall or ceiling.
