The Redding Station medium wall lantern in Restoration Bronze leans directly on old American railroad platform lighting, right down to the shaped aluminium shade and prismatic diffuser that would once have thrown light across a station platform. It works well whatever the surrounding architecture looks like, from cottages to more contemporary builds.

Restoration Bronze finish

The Restoration Bronze finish gives this lantern a deeper, more even bronze tone than the distressed alternative, reading as a little more polished while keeping the same vintage silhouette. It pairs well with darker brickwork, painted timber, or stone, and works equally well on traditional and more modern house fronts.

How it works

This lantern doesn't come with a bulb, so you'll need to add one to your order. The aluminium shade and prismatic diffuser are designed to withstand outdoor conditions, and the collection carries an IP44 rating. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Its medium size suits either side of a front door, singly or as a pair, and it holds its own on a larger porch or entrance. As an IP44 rated fitting, it is best suited to covered outdoor spots such as porches and entrances rather than a fully exposed wall.

The story behind Feiss

Feiss's design heritage traces to 1955 and a small South Bronx business started by Murray Feiss, who wired imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases and had the shades hand sewn by his mother, Rose. Across three generations of family ownership that business grew into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its range now spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, with the heritage today sitting within Visual Comfort & Co. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe, converting designs like this Redding Station lantern to 220 to 240V electrics. Redding Station borrows both its name and its look from the platform lanterns of old American railroad stations, recreated here in Restoration Bronze for a front door or entrance.
