The English Bridle pillar lantern is the shortest and stockiest fitting in the range, a bollard style light built to sit low along a path or driveway edge rather than stand tall like a lamp post. It shares the same paned frame and clear seeded glass as the rest of the collection, just set close to the ground where it lights the way underfoot.

In Black, this low pillar lantern has a crisp, defined outline that reads clearly against paving, gravel or lawn edges, useful where you want the light itself to double as a visible path marker rather than disappear into the planting.

How it works

This pillar lantern takes three bulbs, none of which are included, so you will need to add them to your order. Like the other ground standing fittings in the range, it fixes into the ground with cabling run underground to the fitting, so a registered NICEIC electrician is the right person to handle the installation and check the wiring is properly weatherproofed.

The story behind Feiss

Feiss's history starts in 1955, in a small South Bronx workshop where Murray Feiss wired imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases, the shades over them hand sewn by his mother, Rose. Three generations of family ownership carried that workshop into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, producing chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, before its design heritage settled within what is now Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting its collections, including English Bridle, for 220 to 240V wiring. English Bridle itself looks to the English countryside and the coach lanterns of a traditional stately manor for its inspiration, offered in British Bronze or Black to suit softer or more graphic garden schemes.
