A tall freestanding lantern for a driveway or garden entrance

The English Bridle large pedestal is the taller of the collection's two freestanding post lanterns, built to stand at the start of a driveway or mark a garden entrance with real presence. The same paned frame and clear seeded glass as the rest of the range sit atop a taller post, giving the light more height to work with over a longer run of drive or path.

British Bronze finish

The British Bronze finish suits a taller pedestal particularly well, giving it a warm, aged look that feels more like a period garden feature than a piece of new ironwork. It blends comfortably with planting, gravel and stone paving along a driveway.

How it works

This taller pedestal takes three bulbs, none of which are included, so you will need to add them to your order. It needs a solid ground fixing and buried, weatherproofed cabling run out to the fitting rather than a wall bracket, and given the additional height we would recommend a registered NICEIC electrician confirms the base is properly secured before it goes in.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, confirmed for this style of fitting across the English Bridle range, it is built for open outdoor positions such as a driveway entrance or garden boundary, standing up to direct exposure the way a wall mounted lantern would not need to. Its extra height suits a longer driveway or a more prominent garden entrance.

The story behind Feiss

1955 marked the start of Feiss, when Murray Feiss began wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases in a South Bronx workshop, his mother Rose finishing each one with a hand sewn shade. Three generations of the same family carried that small business to become one of America's best known names in decorative lighting, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and its design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting the designs for 220 to 240V electrical systems, English Bridle included. The collection itself draws on the English countryside and the coach lanterns of a traditional stately manor, offered in British Bronze or Black to suit softer or more graphic garden schemes.
