A wall fitting that sends its light up rather than down
The Drawing Room upward 2 light wall fitting mirrors its downward facing sibling in construction, with two pressed glass bowls in die-cast aluminium fitters and the same fretwork ironwork drawn from traditional British architectural themes, but here the bowls are angled to throw their light upward, washing the wall and ceiling above rather than the space below.
Walnut finish
In Walnut, the ironwork has a warm, dark brown character, and because the light is thrown upward, the finish and glass are lit from below when the fitting is on, giving a gentler, more ambient glow than a downward facing equivalent.
How it works
Each arm takes its own bulb, and neither is included, so you'll want to add two to your order. As with any wall fitting, we recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation, and because it throws light upward, it works particularly well mounted at a height where the ceiling can catch and reflect the glow.
Where it works best
Upward facing wall light works well in living rooms and hallways where you want ambient rather than task lighting, softening a room by bouncing light off the ceiling rather than casting it directly downward. It is an indoor fitting throughout.
The story behind Feiss
Feiss designs have been available in the UK and Europe through Elstead Lighting since 2012, who convert the American originals, including this Drawing Room fitting, to 220 to 240V electrics. The brand itself dates to 1955, when Murray Feiss began building lamps from imported European porcelain figurines in the South Bronx, finishing each one with a shade hand sewn by his mother, Rose. What started as a small family concern expanded over three generations into one of America's best known decorative lighting houses, its range eventually spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and now sits under the Visual Comfort & Co. umbrella. Drawing Room draws its identity from Edwardian ironwork, pairing pressed glass bowls and die-cast fitters with fretwork detailing typical of the period's British architecture.
