The Faro Timon is a marine inspired bulkhead wall light that carries a real sense of harbourside heritage onto exterior walls. Its round, solid form is unmistakably nautical, borrowed from the rugged fittings once bolted to ships and quaysides and reworked by Faro Barcelona for the garden wall, porch and terrace. What lifts the Timon above a plain bulkhead is the half cowl hood that arches over the top of the glass, a shade that shields the light source from view and throws a gentle wash downwards while adding genuine sculptural character.

The brass finish

This version is made from solid brass with a natural, unlacquered surface. Brass earns its place outdoors precisely because it lives and breathes with the weather: rather than corroding, it mellows and takes on a warm patina over time, so no two fittings age quite the same way. The cast brass frame, the ribbed prismatic glass and the neat slotted screws all read as things built to last, and the warm golden tone sits beautifully against brick, render, coastal stone and period façades. If you want a cooler or more contemporary look this range appears in other finishes, but the brass is the one that leans fully into that timeless marine feel.

How it works

The Timon takes a single E27 screw fit bulb rated to a maximum of 15 watts, so you can tune the brightness and warmth to suit the setting. The bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of a warm white LED or a filament style lamp entirely up to you. The fitting is not dimmable. Behind the ribbed prismatic glass the light is softened and spread evenly, while the brass hood tempers glare from above. This is a mains powered, hardwired fitting, and Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

With its IP44 rating the Timon is protected against splashing water and rain from any direction, which makes it well suited to porches, covered entrances, exterior walls, garden rooms and terraces, and to semi sheltered positions rather than sites of the most driving, fully exposed rain. It looks equally at home flanking a front door, marking a path or lighting a courtyard, and its robust brass construction stands up well to coastal air. It is a natural choice for anyone after authentic nautical or period outdoor lighting rather than a modern minimalist look.
