A discreet way to mark steps and edges after dark
The Faro Spark is a neat, low rectangular fitting that sits flush within an exterior wall and casts a soft band of light downward. Rather than flooding a whole area, it does something more considered: it marks a level, a threshold or an edge, so steps, low walls and pathways read clearly after dark without any glare in the eye. It is a quietly architectural piece of outdoor lighting, more signal than spotlight, and it earns its place by guiding the eye rather than demanding attention.
The white finish
This version wears a clean matt white faceplate that sits discreetly against pale render, painted masonry and light stonework, almost disappearing by day and letting the warm glow do the talking by night. Behind the diffuser sits a single horizontal run of LEDs, set back within the recess so the light source itself stays hidden and you see only the wash of light on the surface below. If you want the fitting to recede against brick or darker stone, Spark is also made in a dark grey finish, but the white is the one to choose where the plate should blend into lighter walls and render.
How it works
Spark uses an integrated LED with a warm 3000K colour temperature, giving a mellow, inviting light that flatters brickwork, render and planting alike. The LED and its driver are built in and supplied ready to run, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace, and the light source is not user replaceable. The body is die cast aluminium with a polycarbonate diffuser, a hard wearing pairing chosen for life outdoors. This is a mains powered, recessed Class I fitting that is wired in and set into the wall, so Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
The Spark comes into its own as low level outdoor lighting: picking out garden steps and staircases, grazing light along a terrace or patio edge, marking the base of a boundary wall, or guiding the way down a path or driveway. Recessed into a porch wall or an entrance pier, it gives a welcoming, low glare glow that helps people find their footing. Its slim, horizontal form suits contemporary gardens and modern exteriors particularly well, where it reads as a deliberate architectural detail rather than an obvious light fitting.
About Faro Barcelona
Faro Barcelona was founded in Barcelona in 1951 as Lorefar, by Carlos Lopez Lopez, and the company still designs its collections from Castellbisbal on the edge of the city. It acquired the Catalan lighting brand BioscaBotey in 2011. Its outdoor ranges, Spark included, are built for weather resistance with sealed, integrated LEDs and warm colour temperatures intended to feel natural in a garden setting.

Questions People Ask
What cut out size does the Faro Spark need?
The Faro Spark needs a 95mm by 65mm cut out to recess into the wall, with the fitting itself projecting 10.8cm deep once installed.
What does the IK10 rating on the Faro Spark mean?
An IK10 rating means the Faro Spark is built to withstand a high level of impact, so it holds up well in positions where it might get knocked, such as low walls beside steps or paths.
Is the Faro Spark bright enough to light a whole patio?
Not on its own. The Faro Spark gives around 190 lumens, enough to mark a step, edge or threshold clearly, so it works best as one of several fittings in a layered outdoor lighting scheme rather than the sole light source for a patio.
Does the Faro Spark come in a finish other than white?
Yes. Alongside this white version, the Faro Spark is also made in a dark grey finish for walls where a darker fitting will blend in better.
