Faro Magritte 450 Picture Wall Light - Black

A quietly confident picture light

The Faro Magritte 450 is a slim, wall mounted picture light designed to throw an even wash of light across artwork, prints and framed pieces without ever competing with them. A compact rectangular backplate carries a single upright arm, which meets the long cylindrical light bar at a pivoting joint. That adjustable head is the heart of the design, letting you tilt the beam to land exactly where the picture needs it. The whole fitting is made of aluminium and steel and finished in a deep matt black, keeping the lines minimal so the object being lit stays the centre of attention.

The 450 in matt black

This is the larger of the two Magritte sizes, its extended bar suited to wider canvases, panoramic prints and generously framed works where a shorter light would leave the edges in shadow. The matt black finish reads as understated and contemporary, disappearing against dark or boldly coloured walls and drawing a crisp line beside black or dark timber frames. If you prefer a warmer, more traditional accent, the Magritte is also offered in old gold and in a smaller 300 size, but the 450 in black is the one to reach for when you want the fitting itself to recede and the picture to take over.

How it works

The Magritte 450 uses an integrated 8W LED light source, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. It emits a warm white 3000K light, and Faro lists an output of around 500 lumens with a colour rendering index above 80, which helps colours and tones in artwork read faithfully. A driver is included in the box, and the light spreads through an opal PMMA diffuser for a soft, glare controlled finish. The integrated LED is not dimmable. As a hardwired mains fitting, it connects directly to your electrical supply, and Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

This is a picture light in the truest sense, at home above paintings and framed prints in a living room, hallway or study. It also works beautifully over a fireplace, in a dining room to highlight a favourite piece, or along a gallery wall in a hallway where a run of images deserves proper lighting. The matt black finish sits naturally in modern and industrial leaning interiors, while the restrained form keeps it equally comfortable in more classic rooms.
