A tall slim beacon that doubles as garden sculpture
The Das 650 is a tall, slim beacon light that brings a clean, architectural line to outdoor spaces. Its open rectangular frame frames a slender illuminated panel down one inner edge, so the fitting reads as much as a piece of garden sculpture as a source of light. Standing 65cm tall, it is the taller beacon in the Das family, which also includes a shorter 30cm beacon and a matching wall lamp, so you can carry one visual language across paths, borders and walls.
The dark grey finish
This version wears a dark grey, almost anthracite, powder finish over its cast aluminium body. It is a colour that settles quietly into planting and paving by day and lets the warm glow do the talking after dark, which makes it an easy match for contemporary and urban gardens as well as softer, greener schemes. The transparent glass diffuser sits within the frame and spreads a gentle, even wash rather than a harsh point of light.
How it works
Light comes from an integrated LED running at a warm 3000K, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. Faro states an output of around 480 lumens from roughly 8W, which is well judged for decorative and wayfinding light rather than floodlighting. The body is cast aluminium with a transparent glass diffuser, and the lamp is designed to be fixed to the ground and wired into the mains. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
As a ground standing beacon, the Das 650 is at home lining a path or driveway, marking the edge of a terrace, or punctuating borders and planted beds where its height lifts the light to a useful level. Place a run of them to guide the eye along a route, or use a single lamp beside a doorway or seating area as a quiet outdoor accent. It is rated for open exposure, so it copes with the everyday British weather of a garden setting.
Weather resistance
The Das 650 carries an IP54 rating. That means it is protected against dust and against water splashing from any direction, so it is suited to general outdoor use in gardens, on terraces and along paths where it will meet rain and spray. It is not intended for immersion or for direct high pressure jets, but for a standard exterior position it is well protected against the elements.

Questions People Ask
How does the Faro Das 650 differ from the shorter Das 300 beacon?
The Faro Das 650 stands 65cm tall against the Das 300's 30cm, giving a taller illuminated line for the same 8W integrated LED and IP54 rating, and both share the same family look alongside a matching Das wall lamp.
What does the IP54 rating mean for the Faro Das 650 in an exposed garden?
IP54 means the Faro Das 650 is protected against dust and against water splashing from any direction, though it is not designed for immersion or direct high pressure jets, so it suits general rain and spray in a normal garden position.
Is the light source on the Faro Das 650 replaceable?
No, the Faro Das 650 uses an integrated LED, with Faro stating an output of around 480 lumens from roughly 8W at 3000K warm white, so there is no bulb to change.
Does the Faro Das 650 need a qualified electrician to install?
Yes, the Faro Das 650 is a hardwired ground standing mains fitting, so Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
