Light Champagne Tones for Contemporary Clarity
Polished nickel brings brightness and contemporary elegance, while champagne glass adds warmth to the light without sacrificing clarity. This combination works particularly well in modern kitchens where you want the fitting to be part of the visual scheme but not dominate it. The reflected light from the polished metal gives the pendant added visual presence.
Choosing Your Finish
Polished nickel is brighter and cooler-toned than pewter or copper, creating a refined, contemporary look. It reflects light without being harsh, and coordinates well with stainless steel appliances and cool-toned tile or paintwork. Across the Springfield range, you'll find other designs available in the same nickel finish if you're building a larger lighting scheme.
How It Works
The E27 lamp holder is positioned behind a 20cm tubular shade of champagne glass. This warmer glass tone softens the potentially cool effect of nickel metalwork, creating a more balanced aesthetic. A 60W bulb delivers practical illumination for cooking and dining tasks. Using dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer gives you control over the light level. The fitting is Class II electrical rated and IP20 protected, suitable for dry interior locations.
Where It Works Best
This pendant is at home in modern kitchens and dining areas with clean lines and minimal decoration. The champagne glass keeps it from feeling too clinical or cold, while the polished nickel ensures it reads as intentional contemporary design. Hung as a single accent or paired for symmetrical balance, it suits both minimalist and moderately decorated spaces.
Design Details
The interplay between the reflective nickel and the warm amber tones of the champagne glass creates visual depth. The ribbed texture of the glass ensures that light is diffused softly despite the bright finish of the metalwork, preventing glare while maintaining brightness. It's a studied combination rather than accidental.

Questions People Ask
Will this match my stainless steel appliances?
Polished nickel and stainless steel work well together, both reading as contemporary and clean. They're not identical finishes but they sit comfortably alongside each other.
Is champagne glass very yellow or very clear?
Champagne glass is a light amber tone, warmer than clear but not so dark that it dominates the light. It balances the cool tone of the nickel metalwork.
Is this too bright for a dining area?
Not if you use a dimmer. At full brightness it's vibrant, but dialled down to 50 to 70 percent, it creates a comfortable, welcoming dining atmosphere.
