Will this shade fit my existing lamp?
It depends on your lampholder. This shade fits standard E27 lampholders, which are the most common type found in home pendants, table lamps and wall lights. If your fitting's socket is 27mm in diameter, this will fit perfectly.

What sort of bulb should I use?
Any standard E27 bulb will work—LED, incandescent, or energy saving options are all compatible. The bulb is sold separately. LED bulbs tend to work best in coloured glass, giving a cleaner light and making the colour appear more vivid.

Is it very dark when the light is off?
The green glass is richly coloured but transparent enough that you can see through it in daylight. When the bulb is switched on, the colour intensifies and glows, but it's still designed to let a good amount of light through rather than dim the room.
