A Squared-Off Spotlight for Contemporary Spaces
Armstrong swaps the expected round spotlight housing for a bold cube shape that sits flush to the ceiling or wall, creating a more substantial visual presence than slim spotlights. Finished in soft sand white, it blends rather than stands out, so the focus stays on the light itself rather than the fitting, and the adjustable head lets you point it wherever you need brightness most.
Choosing Your Finish
Sand white is neutral enough to disappear into most ceiling colours and interior schemes, whether your walls are pale, warm or cool-toned. The matte finish avoids any shine or gloss that might make the fitting feel cheap, and the squared aesthetic gives it a quietly contemporary edge that suits minimal and traditional interiors equally well.
How It Works
One GU10 bulb, rated to 50W maximum, sits in an adjustable head that swivels to direct light where you want it. The fitting is wired to Class II standards, so it doesn't require an earth connection. It's not suitable for bathrooms due to its IP20 rating, which means it's for dry indoor areas only, and it's dimmable if you choose dimmable GU10 bulbs with a compatible dimmer.
Where It Works Best
This spotlight works well in kitchens and home offices where you need task lighting over a worktop or desk, or singly or in rows along a hallway where you want a more architectural look than traditional round spotlights. The square profile gives it presence without feeling heavy, making it a good choice for contemporary kitchens or period homes being updated with cleaner lighting.
Design Details
The cube housing is made from iron and aluminium, materials that are lightweight enough to install easily but substantial enough to feel like proper fixtures rather than temporary placeholders. The adjustable mechanism is smooth and stays in position reliably once you've aimed it, without requiring supports or brackets to keep it pointing the right way.

Questions People Ask
Can I use this spotlight in a row along my ceiling?
Yes. Multiple Armstrong spotlights space well along a line and create a clean, contemporary look. Even spacing typically looks best, roughly 1 to 1.5 metres apart depending on ceiling height and how much light overlap you want.
How does this compare to a round spotlight?
The square housing gives it a more architectural, squared-off appearance that suits contemporary and modern schemes, whereas round spotlights have a more traditional look. The light output is comparable depending on the bulb you choose.
Is the head easy to adjust?
Yes. The swivel mechanism is smooth and stays put once positioned. You can adjust it by hand without needing tools, so repositioning the beam as your needs change is straightforward.
