Endon Arlo Floor Lamp - Matt Black & Rattan 52cm Natural Rattan Shade

A Slender Matt Black Floor Lamp With A Pale Natural Rattan Shade

The Arlo floor lamp pairs a thin matt black stem with a broad, open weave rattan shade in a pale natural tone. It stands 160cm tall and the shade is 52cm across, so it has real presence beside a chair even though the stem itself takes up almost no room. Rattan is a natural material, so the exact colour and weave of each shade differ a little from the one in the photos.

Matt Black Steel With A Hand Crafted Natural Rattan Shade

The stem and the round, weighted base are steel with a matt black finish, so the lamp stays put and does not catch the light. The shade is hand crafted from natural rattan in a tapered coolie shape, open at the top and wide at the rim. The weave is loose enough to let a dappled pattern of light through the sides when the bulb is on, while the pale tone keeps the look soft and airy rather than heavy. Each shade is woven by hand, so small differences in colour and texture are part of the character of this natural rattan floor lamp.

How It Works

The Arlo is a plug in floor lamp, so there is nothing to wire up. It takes one E27 screw cap LED bulb, which is not included, and it is not dimmable. A foot switch sits inline on the black braided cable, so you turn it on and off with your foot rather than reaching up to the lamp holder. The cable runs 1.5 metres from the plug to the foot switch and a further half metre from the switch to the lamp, two metres in all. It is supplied with a European two pin plug and a UK three pin adapter, so it is ready to use in a UK socket.

Where It Works Best

This is a lamp for the corner of a living room or the spot beside a reading chair, where the wide shade sends a warm glow downwards and the stem stays out of the way. It also suits a bedroom or a quiet corner of a home office. The black and pale rattan pairing goes with neutral, coastal and Scandinavian rooms, and looks right next to boucle fabrics, light oak floors and plain white or stone coloured walls.
