An upright lantern with a pointed finial
This York sits upright on its wall bracket rather than leaning out and down, topped with a small pointed finial that finishes off the roofline nicely. It is the mirror idea of the down facing version in the same range, so if you like symmetry either side of a door, this is the one to pair with it.
Black die cast aluminium
Roof, body and bracket are all cast in aluminium and finished in black, with the same hammered glass panels running around the four sides. The texture in the glass catches the light unevenly rather than in one flat sheet, which is part of what gives these lanterns their slightly old fashioned charm.
How it works
One E27 bulb runs the light, bought separately, and dimmable bulbs work with the fitting if you want to soften the glow rather than have it on full. Because the lantern sits upright, more of the light spreads up and around it rather than pooling directly below.
Where it works best
Good either side of an entrance, along a boundary wall, or anywhere you want an upright lantern shape rather than one that reaches down towards the ground. It reads as a classic exterior light without trying too hard about it.
