An upright lantern for either side of the door
The York up lantern stands tall on its wall bracket, roofline reaching skyward around a small pointed finial, rather than leaning out and down like its down facing sibling. If you're lighting an entrance and want symmetry either side of the door, this is the half of the pair that points up.
Black die cast aluminium
The roof, body and bracket are all cast in aluminium and finished in matte black, with a hammered glass panel set into each of the four sides. Up close the glass has a rippled, slightly uneven texture rather than a flat pane, so the light breaks up as it passes through instead of showing as one bright square. The wall bracket carries a diamond shaped mounting boss and a tapering drop beneath the arm, echoing the shape of the roof above it.
How It Works
One E27 bulb runs the light and isn't included, so you'll need to fit one before switching on. Choose a dimmable E27 bulb and the lantern will respond to a dimmer switch. Because the lantern faces upright rather than hanging down, more of its light spreads up the wall around it rather than pooling on the ground below. This is a Class I fitting that wires directly into the wall, so we recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
Where It Works Best
York up suits either side of a front door, spaced along a boundary wall, or anywhere you want an upright lantern shape rather than one reaching down towards the ground. Pair it with the down facing York for a matching set either side of an entrance, or run several along a wall for a more uniform look.
Elstead Lighting

Does the York up lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to fit one before use.
Is the York up lantern dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even on a compatible circuit.
Do I need an electrician to install this lantern? Yes. It wires directly into the wall rather than plugging in, so we recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
