A coach lantern that hangs rather than sits
The York Single Porch Chain Lantern hangs from its own black chain rather than fixing flush to a wall or topping a post, so it swings gently in the breeze and casts light down and outward the way an old coach lantern would beside a front door.
Black diecast aluminium and textured glass
The lantern body is diecast aluminium finished in black, with panels of textured glass on every side that soften and scatter the light rather than throwing a hard beam. The pitched, slightly overhanging roof and bevelled glass keep the traditional coach lantern silhouette that runs through the whole York range.
How It Works
It takes a single E27 LED bulb, not included, and dims when fitted with a compatible dimmable bulb. The chain lets you set the drop anywhere between 40cm and 50cm, so the lantern can hang higher or lower to suit your porch. It's a Class I fitting that needs to be earthed, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
Where It Works Best
It's a natural fit above a front door or within a covered porch, where a hanging chain suits a beam or bracket better than a wall backplate. It also works well under a garden pergola, along a covered walkway, or over a side entrance where you want a single point of light rather than a wash across a wall. With an IP43 rating it's built for covered, sheltered spots outdoors rather than direct exposure to driving rain.
