Picture lights are almost always metal from end to end, so the Winchfield's oak effect shade and backplate stand out immediately. The grain runs along the curve of the shade, and against the aged brass arm it gives the whole fitting a warmer, more furniture like feel than a standard brass or nickel picture light.

Aged brass and oak effect

The shade and wall plate are finished in an oak effect that shows a genuine looking grain pattern, paired with an aged brass arm, pivots and end caps that carry a soft, worn patina rather than a bright shine. It sits somewhere between a piece of lighting and a piece of joinery, which makes it an easy match for rooms already built around timber.

How it works

Two E14 lamps sit inside the curved shade and throw light forward and down over the artwork or surface beneath. The arm articulates at the wall plate and again at the shade itself, so once it is fixed to the wall you can angle the head to aim the light rather than needing the fixing position to be exact first time.

Where it works best

The oak effect finish suits oak or other pale wood picture frames particularly well, picking up the same tone rather than contrasting against it, though it also reads nicely over a fireplace with a timber mantel or against wood panelling. At just over 44cm across the shade, it is sized for a single medium picture or mirror rather than a large gallery canvas.

Can I angle the light once it's fitted? Yes. The arm articulates at both the wall plate and the shade, so you can adjust the angle after fixing rather than needing to get the mounting position exact first time.
