A lantern that lights itself

The Wexford PIR is a traditional up lantern with a motion sensor built straight into the wall bracket. Instead of leaving it on a timer or waiting for someone to find a switch in the dark, it senses movement nearby and lights itself, then switches off again once the area is quiet.

Black with a silvered edge

The cast metal body is finished in black with a brushed silver picked out along the roof, finial and edges, giving the lantern a bit of contrast rather than a single flat colour. The four glass panels are textured and set with a leaded diamond pattern, so the light breaks up nicely once the bulb is on.

How It Works

Fit a single E27 bulb and the integrated PIR sensor in the wall bracket takes care of the rest, switching the lantern on automatically as someone approaches and off again after a short period of no movement. There's no separate sensor unit to mount; it sits inside the bracket itself rather than as an obvious add on box. The bulb isn't included, and because this fitting wires directly into the mains, we always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.

Where It Works Best

It's a natural fit for a side gate, a back door, a garage entrance or anywhere else you'd rather have light appear on its own than rely on someone flicking a switch. Being IP44 rated, it copes well with the weather at an external wall, so it holds up well in an open porch or an unsheltered spot.

Elstead Lighting

Wexford comes from Elstead Lighting, a British lighting group whose name traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the same Lucas family today. The standard, non sensor version of Wexford shares the same casting and glass, so the two can be mixed on one property where you want automatic light in some spots and a manual switch in others.
