The Wexford Half Lantern is built to sit flush against a wall while still giving you the character of a proper carriage lantern: a domed cap, boxy glazed body and a diamond of leaded glass set into textured, water effect panes.

Black and silver finish

Cast in black with brushed silver picking out the edges, hinges and fixings, the finish has enough depth and shading that it still reads as a lantern rather than a flat plaque, even mounted close to the wall. The four glazed panes are pressed with a rippled, water effect texture and quartered by a leaded diamond motif at the centre.

How it works

Two E27 lamp holders sit behind the glass, angled to throw light out through all four panes rather than in one direction, which helps it work as a porch or entrance light rather than a purely decorative fitting. It's rated IP23, so it copes with a covered porch or recessed doorway rather than a wall that's fully open to the weather.

Where it works best

Its shallow 8.6cm projection makes it a good option for porches, arches or tighter side passages where a projecting lantern would stick out too far or catch on a passing coat. Because of its IP23 rating, keep it under a porch roof, canopy or similar cover rather than mounting it somewhere fully open to driving rain. Does the Wexford half lantern come with bulbs? No. It takes two E27 bulbs, and we recommend LEDs, but they are not included.

Can the Wexford half lantern be used somewhere fully exposed to the weather? It's rated IP23, which covers splashing rather than driving rain, so it's best mounted somewhere sheltered, such as a covered porch, canopy or recessed doorway.

Is the Wexford half lantern dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable bulbs. A non dimmable bulb will not dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.
