Elstead Victoria Single Wall Lantern - Verdigris

There's something reassuring about a lantern that already looks like it has weathered a few winters. The Victoria takes its cues from pre Georgian box lanterns, with a stepped brass roof and glazed sides that throw light out in every direction rather than just downward, so it reads as a proper period fitting rather than a modern stand in.

A verdigris finish with real depth

This is the Victoria in Verdigris, a mottled green and bronze patina over solid brass that varies slightly from piece to piece, the way weathered metal does. It sits well against stone, render or dark brick, and it will continue to soften and shift tone over time rather than staying static.

How it works

One E27 lamp holder sits inside the glazed box, so the fitting is wired for a single bulb rather than a cluster. Clear glass on all four sides means the light spreads sideways along a wall as well as forward, which is useful for a lantern mounted at head height by a door.

Where it works best

Porches, side entrances and garden walls are the obvious spots, anywhere you want a fixed point of light that also looks the part when it's switched off during the day. Its scale suits a single doorway rather than a wide facade, where you'd more likely pair two together either side of the opening.
