The Taiko 5 Light Island Pendant stretches into a long oval rather than a circle, so it's built to hang along a run rather than mark a single spot. Instead of one central rod it's suspended on two, spacing the shade so it sits evenly over an island or a long dining table.

Olde Bronze and oatmeal linen

The rod cluster, twin support rods and ceiling canopy are all finished in Olde Bronze, a warm, aged bronze tone with real depth to it rather than a flat brown. Over the top sits an oatmeal linen drum shade with a neutral taupe trim along its lower edge, the fabric giving the light a soft, warm quality rather than the harder edge of a metal or glass shade.

How It Works

Five E27 lamp holders sit inside a crossed bronze rod cage beneath the shade. Fit them with LED bulbs (not included) and light spills downward through the gaps in the rods and sideways through the linen, so the glow reaches along the whole length of the fitting rather than pooling under a single point. It's wired to Class I and will dim if dimmable LED bulbs are fitted, and because the two support rods are independent, the drop can be set to clear a beam or work with the run of ceiling joists.

Its length makes it a natural fit for a kitchen island or a long dining table, hung centrally along the run rather than over one end. The oatmeal linen shade keeps the look softer than a run of exposed pendants, while the crossed rod frame beneath still reads as a piece of its own rather than disappearing under the shade.

Questions People Ask

Why does this pendant have two rods instead of one? The oval shade is long enough that a single central rod wouldn't support it evenly, so it's hung on two rods from the ceiling canopy, which also lets the drop be set to line up with a beam or run of joists.

Does it come with bulbs? No. It takes five E27 lamp holders, and LED bulbs are recommended, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature to suit the room.

Is the Taiko 5 Light Island Pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as it's fitted with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Standard non dimmable bulbs will only run at full brightness.

Can the drop be adjusted to suit my ceiling height? Yes. The two support rods allow the drop to be set from around 42.4cm up to a maximum of 126.4cm, so it can be hung to clear a beam or sit at the right height over an island or table.
