A lantern shape older than the house it lights
The St James takes its outline from lantern designs that predate the Georgian period: a domed cap, a narrow vent standing proud at the front, and glazed sides that let light spill out in every direction rather than straight down onto the step.
Aged brass
This finish is a warm, brown gold brass that has been treated to look settled rather than fresh from the workshop, so it sits comfortably against older brick, stone or render from day one rather than needing years outside to tone down.
How It Works
A single E27 lamp holder sits behind four glazed panels, so the fitting reads as a piece of period detail on the wall by day and a genuine light source once the bulb is switched on. Fit a dimmable LED and the St James will respond to a dimmer switch; a bulb that is not dimmable will not. It wires directly into the wall rather than plugging in, so we recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation, and some simple assembly is needed to complete the fitting on arrival.
Where It Works Best
Its traditional shape suits porches, front doors and other exterior entrances, particularly on older or period properties where a plain modern bracket would look out of place. It is IP44 rated, so it is built to cope with being mounted outside in ordinary UK weather.
